Scouting in Exeter

Did you know that the Scouting Movement has been running for over 100 years? There are 12 Scout Groups in the Exeter District and most have Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. The District also runs an Explorer Unit which meets at different locations to suit the young people who attend.

In total there are about 1000 young people and adults involved in Scouting in Exeter.

Scouting is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who give their time freely for the benefit of Scouting in Exeter. Our aim is to fulfil the purpose of the Scout movement by promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national, and international communities.

We can offer young people lots of activities, fun, new adventures and challenges. Your child will be encouraged to join in all the activities we have to offer and gain as much out of it as they can.

The age ranges for the different sections within Scouting are:

Beavers – Age 6 to 8

Cubs – Age 8 to 10½

Scouts – Age 10½ to 14

Explorers – Age 14 to 18

Network – Age 18 to 25
