Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show

In 1923, Ralph Reader, an aspiring theatre producer, was convinced to assemble a variety show performed by Scouts in London. Impressed by the show, Baden-Powell persuaded Ralph to continue, resulting in a 42-year run, including several Royal Command Performances.

The Gang Show expanded throughout the UK and the rest of the world over the following years, and it is now said that "every night of every year a Gang Show is taking place somewhere in the world."

Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show brings together Scouting and Guiding in a unique and inspiring manner. We, like hundreds of Gang Shows worldwide, join forces to do our best and honour the legacies of Robert and Olive, who initiated these movements over 100 years ago.  Exeter Gang Show qualified for its Red Scarf in 1983 with Cast and Crew proudly wearing it since.

Each year a Cast of around 70 Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Guides, Rangers, Explorers and Leaders take to the stage at the Barnfield Theatre during the Easter holidays.

The Gang Show is a mix of singing, dancing, comedy sketches and some more poignant moments.

We rehearse every Sunday at Little Silver, District Scout HQ from beginning of January until the Show.
